| COMMENT CHASSIS AND UNDERFRAMING: Fair. Road grime and some surface rust underneath but no sign of any structural rust. The main chassis rails which are built from 100 x 50 box section have had some fatigue repairs above the front axle. It looks as though a crack has been welded up and some strengthening plates welded on the top and bottom flanges. No sign of any further trouble. The deck tray has lattice construction sides and the centre pivots are mounted on top of the sides so that the deck pivots inside the main frame. The main bearers on the deck are built from 100 x 50 box section with 75 x 50 box section cross members at 400mm centres. The deck tilts manually with manual latches on either side at the front. MECHANICAL: 6 ton Tanner axles with 6 stud grease hubs on multi-leaf spring suspension with load sharing rockers. Brake linings not viewed - no peep holes. A very sturdy pole and A frame drawbar built from 100 x 75 box section with a 40 Ringfeder tow eye. Full air, S cam brakes on both axles with a manual wind-on park brake. The park brake wire cables are broken. BODY: Hardwood timber decking is in good condition - a little weather worn on the top surface. 1250mm long manual ramps at the rear. The paintwork around the trailer has seen better days - numerous scrapes and stone chips with surface rust becoming established. The R/H mudguard has suffered a few knocks - L/H side quite good. Tail lights etc all intact. There is a fairly new looking wind-down leg mounted on the drawbar. The drawbar is certified - 6000kg MTM - Design Certificate expires July 2013. The manufacturers rating indicates that the trailer is suitable for a 4500kg payload. TYRES 8.25R16 Recaps with 90% remaining tread all around. |
