COMMENT
CHASSIS AND UNDERFRAMING: This trailer looks to have a started life as a light transporter which has cross members and plywood decking in the wheel track areas. Someone has added a heavy duty lattice construction frame on top of the trailer however this is secured by only a few small welds and it would not take a great deal of work to remove it returning the trailer to a more standard configuration. The chassis and underframe look in reasonable repair - some tar spill and crusty surface rust underneath but there is no structural rust of fatigue evident. The main chassis rails consist of two 76 x 38 channel sections welded back to back. The drawbar is built from 76 x 38 channel with a 50 x 50 angle iron stiffener welder on the top flange. 65mm OD pipe axles with 5 stud grease hubs on multi-leaf spring suspension with load sharing rockers. MECHANICAL: The front axle has full air, S cam brakes with spring parking chambers. The brake system looks complete with an air tank, break away valve and dual coupling. BODY: Paintwork around the trailer is generally shot - extensive wear and scrapes with surface rust well established in most places. The rigid A frame drawbar is 2760mm long and has a 40mm Ringfeder tow coupling. GENERAL: The unit looks a bit unsightly with the lattice construction frame sitting on top but however as mentioned it would be a fairly straight forward job to cut this off and re-instate the trailer to conventional unit. Overdue for a fresh coat of paint. NOTE - COF and Reg expired long ago.
