COMMENT
CHASSIS AND UNDERFRAMING: Looks in good condition - some road grime on inner faces but - outer surfaces are reasonably clean and well painted with no visible rust or fatigue. The main chassis rails are built from 140mm x 175mm universal beam. The deck runners are 200mm x 80mm channel section. MECHANICAL: The rear bogie has Propar 12 ton axles with 10 stud oil hubs on three leaf spring suspension. The front bogie has 10 ton axles with 10 stud oil hubs on multi-leaf spring suspension. Full air, S cam brakes with spring parking chambers. Remaining brake lining wear: First axle - 80%. Second axle - 95%. Third axle - 80%. Forth axle - 95%. Spring slipper pads all look in good repair - some have been re-plated but now indicate only minor wear. BODY: 7300mm steel deck with 800mm high fixed sides - radius corners. TRUB hoist. Top swing, air latch tailgate. The deck floor has seen a fair bit of work and is due for a re-skin. Worn very thin, right through in places towards the rear with several patch repairs. The radius corners have worn right through towards the rear also. Sides and tailgate presentable - usual bruising from the inside. The R/H top combing rail has a gentle outwards bow. Both hoist ram seals are weeping - the R/H one is the worst. Forecarriage and drawbar look in good working condition. 30,000kg MTM pole and A frame drawbar with rubber bushes and a 40mm tow eye. Drawbar Design Certificate expires Aug 2012. GENERAL: A nicely configured trailer that has been in day to day work until the recent arrival of a new replacement unit. Probably started life as a 2 axle semi given the different suspension and axles in the front bogie. Due for a deck re-skin. Drawbar length is 2895mm.
